Nothing surprises me anymore!

Well let me tell you what happened. On Monday it was cold out for us Floridians, colder then normal. So anyway I told my girls ages 12,10,2 that they could have hot chocolate when we got home from school, while they did their homework .Yeah! Everyone is excited! These are moments my girls will remember when they get older.
So any way I gave my 2 year old her little cup of warm hot chocolate and marshmallows. Yay! There's nothing better. Well I started getting busy with dinner and feeding the dog and cleaning and on and on.... I forgot about my 2 year olds cup. I figured it would be in the sink with the others. I mean she absolutely likes to throw EVERYTHING in the sink. So why wouldn't the cup be there, right?! Well it's Wednesday morning now were getting ready for school and there's this awful stench in the kitchen. Can't figure out where it's coming from. Garbage? No it's half empty, no poopy diapers in there. Our dog have an accident? Nope. What in the world? My cinnamon candle is always on so I don't know.
Later on that day I start getting ready to make dinner and here comes my 2 year old to play with her play kitchen which is in our kitchen. So I'm watching her and what does she pull out of her little refrigerator? Um, her hot chocolate! Yes, she was trying to make it colder,so I guess she put it in her refrigerator!Hilarious. All I could do is laugh because she just does not surprise me any more. I mean if you think about it, she did put it in the fridge, it's just that her doesn't really work.:)
The smell that this little cup of milk and chocolate made ugh! Awful! She brought it up to me of course so she can show me."Look Mom, my hot chocolate".
So yes when you have children, nothing surprises you, after a while anyway!:-)

My little guard dog

So I was arriving at my house and what do I see in the front window? My little guard dog. She's so funny! She's only 17lbs., and she keeps an eye on everything. Any little noise and zoom she's in the window. Sometimes our dog and cat are both in the window watching out for any moving object. It reminds me of a little old lady sitting in her front window watching everyone go buy and keeping up with the gossip! :)
As soon as I pulled up she was in the window QUICK! Checking things out, like who's here? And what's so cute is that she's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel so her little eyes bug out more then usual because of course she starts to bark and she's protecting my home! :) Cute, I just had to share. I took a picture so you could see her, she's so funny.

Brrr!!!

Brrrr! It's so cold today! Here in Florida I do have to say that we are so use to the warm or should I say hot weather that when this morning we got up it was a freezing temperature of 40's we were just freaking out!!! Um? Where's our coats, gloves, scarves? Anyone one know? We run around our house looking for these items that we never really use. We end up walking out the house looking like we're in Alaska!lol Hilarious, I do have to say. If any of my Michigander family saw us this way they would laugh hysterically! But think about it, we are always in shorts and flip flops, temps normally 80's on a cooler day, so today was a shock.
I know that in Michigan they already have snow!! What? Yes! Can't imagine.
So we head off this morning to drop my girls off at school, we get there and everyone is told to go inside and wait in the cafeteria. Yes, because of the freezing temperatures! I had to laugh because as a Michigander myself um, we had to wait outside with snow up to our knees and wait for the bell to ring. Yes, I remember being huddled outside of the school with my friends so we could keep each other warm and avoid the cold wind. Now that was cold. But here in Florida at my girls school they let them in!? Of course I feel for my girls and would like to protect them, but it's not even considered freezing temps at this point. So anyway I just had to share this because it's not only different for our kids these days but different down here in Florida. To all of my family in Michigan and all the northern people who read my blog, I FEEL FOR YOU!!! :)

Holiday giving!?

I was just talking to my sister the other day and we were talking about how the schools and other organizations are asking for donations.Like for instance my childrens school was asking for certain foods to be put together for Thanksgiving. The foods would be then givin to people for that particular days feast. It's a great thing. Another was Boy Scouts asking to have a plastic bag filled with non-parishable goods then they would come back by and pick them up to be given to soup kitchens.Another great thing. You get the idea, this time of year it's give, give, give. Which I usually don't mind, but this year I'm a bit annoyed! Why? I'm completley out of extras. Cash, food, you name it. The market is so bad that my husband whos in sells isn't making anything! And it isn't that he's not trying its just that no one has money, therefore buying things that are not needed, like a new car, is effecting us.So as I was first saying my sister and I were laughing because we were like well where is the list to sign up? We here about donate this and donate that but where is the list so I can be on the recieving end? You know that for past years I have always donated food, money and toys but this year? Um, no I can barely do for my own family. I'ts just plain sad that it's gotten this far but it has for so many people. On top of all this it seems that the schools are not really affected in a way because thier still asking for this and that like everything is normal for all the children that attend. Way not true! School field trips for instance. My daughters class is suppose to be going to St. Augustine and it's going to cost $61.00 per child! Um, hello? Can't do! Are you serious? It's so crazy. Everytime my sister and I talk we just have to laugh because if we don't we will cry! Too overwhelming!

Why Organic?!

I had just read a blog about someone complaining that you don't need everything that you eat to be organic. True, for some things. For instance I hear from the food "people" that you don't necessarily need to buy organic bananas or apples unless you are going to eat the skin. The pesticides are on the outside only. So this goes for other fruits and vegetables as well. Well the blog was complaining about chocolate chip cookies being organic and it's a waste of money and your just eating it because it's yummy and fat! Well I will have to object to that because chocolate chip cookies are more than just fat and chocolate chips. They're made with butter, butter is made from milk which comes from cows. Well if the cow is producing regular antibiotic filled milk, eating scraps and being cooped up all her life to just produce milk, and being miserable and stressed then that's just disgusting and let alone putting it in your yummy cookies.Same thing goes for the eggs in your cookies, are they from organic free range chickens? Which means they get to live a stress free life, roaming where ever they would like. Plus being organic, they're not injected with anything and then you turn around and buy regular cookies made with these eggs. The chemicals are harmful to their bodies as well as ours. What they eat or injected with, we are as well. All I am saying is that we get one body to live in, take care of it! Organic has shown proof that people's bodies feel better because there's not all these extra chemicals that are bodies have to deal with and try to break down.
That is why I bake organic goodies. I have children who love them as well as adults. It's just a good choice for us all. :-)

Organic Shopping

Wow! Just went to Whole Foods here in Orlando and like always I had a great time. I love going to Whole Foods. The atmosphere, all the healthy varietys of food, organic everything, etc. You can find just about anything organic. It's great, especially if your like me and you bake organic goodies! :) This Saturday I will be a vendor at a craft and art show here downtown Orlando. Can't wait, it will be my first time! I'm very excited, don't know what to expect. I also hope there are people who choose to eat organic and love treats. Back to Whole Foods. Have you been there? If your not sure if you have one near you just look up Wholefoods.com and just put your location and they will let you know if there is one near you.And when I say near I'm about 25-30 minutes away from ours. It's worth the drive at least every 2 weeks. You'll have to visit sometime, let me know what you think, hopefully you have a great experience. Word of caution the prices are not like if you go to Walmart. There are unique products that are made specially with out certain harmful chemicals and specially grown ingredients, vegetables, fruit, organic everything etc. so just to let you know, there are good deals and things on sell.

Baking,Baking,Baking!

Baking, that's what I do. I absolutely love it. It's funny, the other day I was making an order for a customer and when I was almost finished making the order I decided to bake something else! Crazy, I can just bake all day. It's very relaxing for me. The out come of my baked goods and the customers liking it is just pure joy! :)
