Check out library books!

A good way to save money these days is to simply borrow books from your local library. I know they have been around for a long time but I think that people had forgotten about the library because it was much more fun going to Barnes N' Noble. And I was one of those that was always at Barnes N' Noble. Not only looking for new books but to enjoy an EXPENSIVE cup of Starbucks! :) Those days are now gone, I have to be more frugal these days. I just simply brew my cup of coffee before I leave the house and bring it in a mug. With our economy in it's bad shape we have to scale back. The Barnes N' Noble days are now good memories.
The library is great though. Our local library doesn't offer snacks or coffee but you can find lots to rent. For example not only books but C.D.s, DVD's, and books on tape. They also have computers for you to use to go on the internet and computers for school work. It's great and it's all free!! Yes, these days you learn to appreciate that word. Not only is it free but you are not buying new and wasting which is good for the environment so you are basically recycling! Isn't that just great? See you have to think about these things!!
Go ahead and check out your local library you might enjoy it more then you think. Oh, and by the way they also have computer classes, story time for small children and crafts! How great is that!?

Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products

I absolutely love Mrs. Meyers cleaning products!

I turned to Mrs. Meyers products after my 2 1/2 year old daughter got into our dish soap! She was trying to help me wash dishes and unfortunately when I wasn't looking she had way too much dish soap on her hands. When I realized this I started to try and rinse off her hands when then she wiped her hand on her face and got an enormous amount in her eyes! I was terrified! She was crying and I was trying my best to hurry and rinse out her eyes. My poor baby, her eyes were all pink after words. Never again I thought,I have to think about my kids. And their safety, you know?! What's in our cleaning products? You can't wait till it's too late.
Well I definitely don't mess around now when it comes to cleaning products. I have to make sure I know what is in the product and can I pronounce the ingredients?!
Well rest assure Mrs. Meyers is great, not only does it smell wonderful, try the Lemon Verbena, but it does a great job of cleaning. There is an all-purpose cleaner that works great on your floors or counter tops, dish soap, hand soap, laundry soap, dryer sheets, you name it, there's one for every need.
The other great thing about these products is that there are 7 scents to choose from which also includes scent free. You can also shop on her web page by favorite scent or by cleaning task.
Her products are always earth friendly, and cruelty free.
Where can you find her products? You can find them at Whole Foods, or health food stores or by going on her web site http://www.mrsmeyers.com/

Going Green!

So the latest trend is to green these days, well for some of us going green was years and years ago. You see when I was in high school we were already recycling and we even had our own "Environmental Club". I lived in a small town that already had recycle pick up, hippie organic clothing stores, and a huge Farmers Market every Saturday and another day during the week, which I can't remember :( Anyway it's as if this is the new thing but when I was young(20 years ago) we were already taking steps to make our earth a better place to live.
I have taught my girls the importance of recycling and conserving energy. Oh, by the way our electric bill will be going up in price once again in March, Ugh, I am sooo tired of this!! Having to depend on a company for electric is tireing, but what would we do? A couple of things that we definetly do in our house to cut costs and conserve are *unplug everything in the house that's not being used (you are still pulling electricity even though you are not using the device) *use cold water rather then hot when possible *hang towels to dry, they are so expensive to dry because they take so long in the dryer( you can use a little drying rack, very inexpensive, place in laundry room or outside) * I light candles at night (just a few) and thats whats on when we are watching T.V. or reading *open windows when weather is at good temps *keep your thermostat low, you can always add socks and sweatshirts or turn fans on to circulate warm air out *reuse items when ever possible * buy from thrift shops, I love to do this, you can find such great deals!
There is so much more we can do to go green, it just takes effort. And as far as having the children follow along I would introduce things one at a time other wise they could get over whelmed with all the changes. Once your accustomed to it you can't help but to do the right thing. Trust me when we travel it's difficult to see that there is no recycle bin and you have something in your hand that needs to be recycled, what to do? right!?
Try to also ride your bike when possible. You would be surprised at how much we depend on our cars to take us on short little trips when we could have walked or ridden our bikes. Not only is it good for the environment but good for our health and our kids too! Remember kids learn by example. If you are not doing what you are preaching then what makes you think that your kids are going to do what your are saying? Lead by example. Go Green! By for now Mama Bakes, Organic!
